These somewhat abstract paintings are a spontaneous additive process. Each painting is built with layers of various tones and transparencies. The use of color is sophisticated—rich darks and somber, murky hues act as foils to bold primaries and other luminous colors.
Both inspired and overwhelmed by the limitless possibilities of abstraction, I employs various systems, such as geometry, to create parameters for my paintings. The balance of compositions extends from a theoretical and intuitive understanding of design. First learning the rules, then learning to break them, I create the appearance of deep or voluminous space— environments in which the viewers’ imagined narratives may take place.
